[Current mood: unwell]
[Current song: -]
So my parents and I had a friendly family argument over the location of a cafe just now.
Ellenborough market cafe.
We (family and relatives) dined there a couple of times in the past but we forgot what hotel it is in.
And after watching the cafe being promoted on television, dad wanted to go there to eat again.
My part of the story:
"It's located near Clarke Quay! I remembered once, Kylie and I took a cab from town to meet you guys to have dinner there! I think it was in Swissotel something, definitely has the word Swissotel in it! Not Swissotel The Stamford but definitely has the word Swissotel!"
Dad's part of the story:
"No lah, it's at Traders Hotel."Mum's part of the story:
"It's located NEAR Clarke Quay! Traders Hotel is at Orchard Road lah, near Tanglin Mall. And it is not at Swissotel lah. I cannot remember where but I know it's not at Swissotel."And so, I was trying to emphasize the point that I was very very very VERY sure that it was part of Swissotel, just that I couldn't remember the exact name.
But both my parents had different views so my dad told my mum to call my eldest aunt to ask her where it was located.
And then 30 mins later, it suddenly hitted me.
Swissotel Merchant Court.
I told my dad and this was what he said.
Dad:
"Oh yah! Merchant Court! I knew that it had something to do with that. "PLP:
"Something to do with that? But you said Traders Hotel. The two hotels' names are like worlds apart!"
Dad:
"Yah what. Traders and merchants. Aren't they similar? Both deal with goods."PLP:
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...For those who do not understand, never mind.
He was trying to make a cold joke.
There was a link all right but it was lame.
That's my dad for you.
I read this in a book about wedding planning.
I thought it was a rather unique and interesting fact.
A Turkish wedding tradition: Have single guests autograph the soles of your shoes. The name that's faded the most when the party ends will marry next.
Maybe I should try this out in future instead of the common bouquet tossing tradition during weddings. And boy! This is one colourful entry!!!
